How to merge PDF files
Drop two or more PDFs into the box above (or click to browse). Every page of every file is rendered as a thumbnail and laid out in a single grid, labelled A·1, A·2, B·1 and so on — the letter is the source file, the number is the page within it. Drag any thumbnail to move it, use the rotate control to turn a sideways scan upright, or delete a page you do not want in the output. When the order looks right, press Merge into one PDF and the combined file downloads straight to your device.
Why page-level control matters
Most merge tools simply staple file B onto the end of file A. That is fine when you are joining two clean documents, but it falls apart for the everyday cases: a scanned form where page 3 came out upside down, an application where the checklist wants ID → address proof → photograph in a fixed sequence, or a report where you need the appendix from one file and only the summary from another. Because this tool explodes everything into pages first, you can build exactly the document you need in one pass instead of merging, splitting and re-merging.
Your files stay on your device
The merge happens in your browser using JavaScript — there is no upload step and no copy of your document on our servers. That matters when the PDFs are bank statements, medical records, mark sheets or signed contracts. It also means the tool keeps working on a slow connection, and there is nothing to delete afterwards. No account, no watermark, and no page limit beyond what your device’s memory can hold.
Frequently asked questions
How many PDFs can I merge at once?+
There is no fixed limit — you can add as many files as you like. The practical ceiling is your device's memory, since every page is rendered as a thumbnail. Merging a few hundred pages is comfortable on a normal laptop or phone; several thousand pages at once may be slow.
Can I change the order of the pages before merging?+
Yes. After you add your files, every page appears as a draggable thumbnail. Drag them into any order you want, rotate pages that are sideways, and delete pages you do not need. The merged PDF follows exactly the order shown on screen.
Are my files uploaded to a server?+
No. The whole merge runs in your browser — your PDFs never leave your device, and we never receive or store them. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and the tool will still work.
Does merging reduce the quality of my PDF?+
No. Pages are copied across without re-encoding, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution. The merged file is roughly the sum of the originals in size. If you need it smaller afterwards, use the Compress PDF tool.
Is it really free, and do I need an account?+
It is free with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily cap. Folia makes its money from the wider journal and productivity app, not from limiting these tools.
